Defensive table tennis racket for classic defensive players (DEF)
We've tailored DEFENSIVE CONTROL to the playing style of traditional defenders. It's not designed for playing at top speed. Instead, it's meant to help you defend with composure and confidence, giving you enough time to place your passes accurately and avoid feeling pressured.
Here's How DEFENSIVE CONTROL Works
The DEFENSIVE CONTROL offers a very responsive and controlled feel. The thick spruce outer veneers ensure longer ball contact: The ball doesn’t bounce back erratically, giving you a moment longer to control it. This is especially helpful in defense, allowing you to precisely control the direction and spin of the ball.
With a moderate pace and high control, the focus is clearly on safety. But don’t worry—the blade isn’t extremely slow. We’ve used a thick Kiri core veneer, which gives the blade a solid pace so you can strike a suitable ball with precision.
Overall, you’ll enjoy greater stability and control, especially in situations where a faster blade would be unnecessarily difficult to control.
Its greatest strength, of course, lies in defense. The long ball contact and moderate pace help you return underspin shots with control and place them precisely. Ideal for anyone who likes to frustrate their opponents with precise placement.
Extra-large racket head in size DEF
One unique feature is the 162 × 156 mm racket head, which significantly enlarges the sweet spot. If you don't quite hit the ball exactly where you want, this gives you some extra leeway and helps you save a point or two.
The larger head also shifts the balance more toward the clubhead, making it top-heavy. This is exactly what helps with topspin: Because the center of gravity is higher up, you can generate plenty of swing with less arm action and put spin on the ball.
That’s why it’s also a good fit for defensive players who don’t want to finish every point exclusively with backspin.
Here's what you should look for before buying
- The DEFENSIVE CONTROL is clearly designed for defense. For consistently fast offensive play, we have more suitable blades in our lineup.
- The large DEF blade size makes the club more head-heavy. If you're used to playing with smaller blades, you should keep that in mind.
Alternatives to DEFENSIVE CONTROL:
VARIOUS OFFENSIVE: If you feel you're lacking a bit of speed and are looking for a faster defensive blade, you can also order the VARIOUS OFFENSIVE in DEF blade size using the configurator, for example. It also offers a very responsive feel, but is slightly faster and designed more for spin.
CONTROL: The CONTROL in blade size L or DEF is also popular among defensive players. It offers a harder, more precise feel and is very popular among pimpled-rubber players. It’s important to note, however, that it also provides a significant boost in speed.

❓FAQ - Häufige Fragen
I'm looking for a blade for a modern defensive style with pimples, but I also want to apply a lot of offensive pressure. Is the DEFENSIVE CONTROL the right choice?
Yes, the DEFENSIVE CONTROL is very well suited for that. That said, it’s important to note that there are blades that allow you to apply more pressure, since the DEFENSIVE CONTROL isn’t designed for maximum speed. The BASALT in DEF blade size, for example, is very popular in modern defensive play. With this blade, you can apply even more pressure on offense.
Can the DEFENSIVE CONTROL also be ordered with a smaller racket head?
Sure, you can customize the blade in the configurator however you like. Many defensive players prefer the extra-large blade size and the large sweet spot. With a smaller size, the bat becomes a little faster and can also be played as a moderate all-around blade.
What effect does the large blade size have?
The large blade makes the racket more top-heavy, automatically giving you more momentum on topspin shots. Many defensive players prefer this blade size because it also significantly increases the sweet spot.

Reviews by other players
