How long do I have to keep my racket in the AIRBOX before I feel an effect?

Every rubber behaves a little differently here. With softer rubbers, approx. 30 minutes at max. 2.5 bar is enough to feel a clear difference. You have to test for yourself what works best for you and your material.
Very hard Chinese sponges, on the other hand, need up to 24 hours. We recommend keeping the racket in the box for longer at the beginning, e.g. overnight. After that, a few minutes are enough to "pump up" the pores of the sponge again.

Does the AIRBOX also work with used rubbers?

Yes, you can also freshen up rubbers that have already been played. Many rubbers react so well that they can be played again as if they were fresh out of the box. This means that you can play your rubbers much longer than before and save a lot of material costs.
The effect naturally depends on the age, wear and type of rubber. Important: the AIRBOX cannot do anything against purely mechanical wear of the rubbers.

Are chemicals used in the AIRBOX?

No. You simply inflate the box with air. We will supply you with the appropriate pump.

What pressure can the box be used with?

The box may be inflated to a maximum of 2.5 bar or 36 psi. To feel an effect, approx. 1 bar or 14psi is usually sufficient.

How is the AIRBOX used?

Simply insert the bat into the cover. Tighten the six screws crosswise using the tool supplied. Please tighten the two outer screws (next to the valve and the barometer) last. Do not overtighten, tighten with feeling.

Then apply approx. 1 - 1.5 bar or 14-21 psi pressure to the box using the hand pump supplied. ATTENTION: a maximum of 2.5 bar or 36 psi of pressure may be applied to the box.
When removing the pump, make sure that you hold the valve of the box firmly. Otherwise it will 'hiss', all the air will be out and you will have to inflate from the front.

VERY IMPORTANT: before opening the filled box, first release the air by turning the valve anticlockwise. Only then loosen the screws

Which rubber glue should I use when using the NO TUNING AIRBOX?

It is important that you use a viscous rubber adhesive . If you use a thin glue, you will probably have a problem with bubbles forming. Therefore we recommend either CONNECT + or the even more viscous SUPERBOND. Do not use a low-viscosity rubber adhesive.

What should I bear in mind when using the AIRBOX?

Before using the AIRBOX, the racket and the rubbers must be pretreated. If rubbers are not glued on properly, they can form bubbles when using the AIRBOX. Don't worry, your rubbers are not damaged! This is just air being pressed between the blade and the rubber. Exactly in the places where the glue was not properly applied. Please glue your rubbers again using a more viscous glue. Alternatively you can lightly sand your blade with 100-grit sandpaper before gluing on the rubbers. This will prevent the rubbers from bubbling afterwards. We explain exactly how to proceed in our video instructions.

Who invented the AIRBOX?

There has already been some speculation that the AIRBOX was not invented by us 😉 Yes, the box was developed around 20 years ago and a patent application was filed. But we applied for this patent. At that time, the AIRBOX was put aside for the time being. The effect with the old rubbers was not as good as we had hoped. In the meantime, however, the structure of modern sponges has changed so much - they now have much coarser pores than before - that we were able to bring the AIRBOX back to life. The AIRBOX makes a huge difference to modern sponges. And we are delighted that it is getting another "second chance".

Will the AIRBOX change my rubber?

Your rubber is refreshed so that it plays "like fresh out of the box". However, its actual properties are not changed. There also is no significant change in thickness.

Is it possible to store only the rubbers without the blade in the AIRBOX?

Yes, you can do that. However, you must bear in mind that most rubbers will curl up as a result. This of course makes it more difficult to glue them on later.

Does the AIRBOX also have an effect on pimples?

Yes, pimples WITH sponge react in the same way as all other rubbers to storage under air pressure. There is no effect on pimples WITHOUT sponge.

Do large table tennis bats such as the Cybershape also fit in the AIRBOX?

Yes, the AIRBOX is large enough for bats with a large defensive blade or the Cybershape.
